Adventure motorcycle rental in Merzouga with Keni Rides

Motorcycle rental in Merzouga

Pick up your motorcycle in Merzouga, at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Delivery to your camp or guesthouse, on a bike prepped for sand and tracks.

Your starting point

Merzouga is the Sahara, immediately. The Erg Chebbi dunes rise a hundred and fifty metres at the edge of the village, and all around lie the tracks of the Tafilalet: stony hamada, dry riverbeds and sand sections that built Morocco's reputation among off-road riders.

This is where the choice of bike and the briefing matter most. We prepare the machine for the terrain, set tyre pressures and talk you through which tracks are rideable for the season. Riding sand is not something to improvise: tell us your experience and we will match both the bike and the route to it.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Do I need experience to ride here?

For the paved roads, no. For the Erg Chebbi sand, yes: it is demanding terrain where you will drop and pick the bike up more than once. If it is your first time, take a light machine and tell us — we will point you at tracks that build up gradually.

Which bike for the Sahara?

The Honda CRF250 and the Suzuki DR are easiest in sand thanks to their weight. The Yamaha Ténéré 700 is the best compromise if you are mixing tarmac and track. The BMW GS 1200 is superb on asphalt but heavy to lift off-road.

When is the best time to come?

October to April. In summer, temperatures in the Tafilalet regularly pass 45 °C, which makes riding in the middle of the day genuinely dangerous.

Can I ride in the dunes themselves?

Yes, but only with a guide and on a suitable bike. Erg Chebbi is deep sand where you bog down and lose your bearings very quickly. We point you towards the safer tracks around the edge, and towards a guide if you want to go into the big dunes.

How many days should I allow from Merzouga?

Two days for the Erg Chebbi circuit and the Tafilalet, three to four to reach the Todra and Dades gorges, and a week if you then ride north to Fez or Marrakech through the great valleys.

Ready to ride out of Merzouga?

Send us your dates and route and we will prepare the right motorcycle and reply the same day.
